For this New Year in Asia, Valentino Beauty is breaking from tradition: the new year’s theme is purple or bust. Through purple – the color of celebration, prosperity, luck, and freedom – Valentino Beauty is taking a bold stance with the gift offer at the heart of its brand.
The annual “Art of gifting” theme is rolled out across the entire range, including shopping bags, gift boxes, retail products, and envelopes. At MR, this adventure is primarily a virtual one. MR ARTWORKS works with the Valentino Beauty team and specifically with Kevin Tremel part of the animation team.
“Our collaboration is very regular. Every year, we join forces to work on technical artworks,” explains Kevin Tremel. An artist was briefed on the concept of “traditional knots” and came up with this highly colorful, symbolic design for us. Our internal studio then developed a range across our formats. MR ARTWORKS provides artworks with a much higher degree of technical detail. Firstly, we finalized image tracing, which allowed us to hot stamp the finer details of every element and make the coral and purple impressions stand out. Next, we reworked decoration positioning, consistency between formats, technical constraint integration, and development. This often requires a significant amount of effort in order to ensure decoration continuity, respect margins, superimpose layers, etc. It is crucial to create technical artworks in industrial mode. The sheer precision of MR ARTWORKS ensures that everything will work out when launching production. And every year, we are proven right ;-)”
This is actually the first time the Valentino team has organized a project through PACKFLOW by MR ARTWORKS. This online platform is a collaboration system that hosts artworks. It means fewer email chains, smoother back-and-forths, and extremely easy comparisons between versions – all while defining a validation chain. It’s also the best way to ensure the timeline and traceability of all artworks and modifications or updates.
“It’s completely intuitive. We already have an internal tool for other campaigns, so we’re used to this type of organization,” says Kevin Tremel. “PACKFLOW makes it even easier to find information and group all legal notices, barcodes, etc. We’re more efficient and can definitely avoid oversights.”
